On Wednesday afternoons The Darwin Sailing Club runs a program for the Club Junior’s who want to learn how to sail.

We welcome the children into a safe environment and teach them the basics of sailing as well as focussing on developing their confidence in boating and water based activities.

All the sailing activities that we do on the water are designed to be fun, whilst still focusing on safety and learning. Without being too challenging and demanding, we encourage each child to progress at their own pace throughout the year.

The Yachting Australia Basic Skills 1 and 2 levels can be achieved through the Wednesday afternoon programs. The Instructors monitor the skills reached by the children throughout the year, and with the support of their parents we can encourage them to obtain their certificates.

This program is an ideal way to get your child involved in sailing and to build their confidence. If they want, they can then step up into the more challenging multi activity program (Sail and Windsurf) run on Tuesdays, or they can even get involved in the Club’s junior racing and the DSC squad skill development program.

Any parent that is interested in having a look from the water is invited on board the rescue boats with the Instructors. The Club offers a great social and friendly atmosphere for families, and we encourage the children and parents to get involved and enjoy the Club life.
