1) Sale of Liquor
The Sale of liquor to Members and Guests will be in accordance with the NT Liquor Licensing Act and the following:
a) Bar
The sale of liquor is only authorised for consumption on or at the Clubhouse by a member of the Club or by a visitor in the presence of a member. The bar trading hours, except as may be varied by the Liquor Commission from time to time, shall be between the hours:
December through March
Monday to Friday 11:30 - Midnight
Saturday & Sunday 11.30 – 02.00
April through November
Monday to Friday 10.00 – 12.00
Saturday & Sunday 10.30 – 02.00
The Darwin Sailing Club is closed on Good Friday and Christmas Day.
b) Takeaway
The sale of take away liquor is restricted to financial members of the Club for removal and consumption away from the Club's licensed premises that are shown on the map displayed on the DSC notice board. The Sale of Take away liquor to Members will be in accordance with the NT Liquor Licensing Act and the following: -
Take-Away liquor trading hours, except, as may be varied by the LiquorCommission from time to time, shall be between the hours:
Sunday to Friday : 10:00 - 22:00
Saturday & Public Holidays 09:00 - 22:00
Consumption on Licensed Premises
Any liquor purchased at the Club's bars to take-away at Take-Away prices shall not be consumed on the licensed premises. Any breach of this rule shall attract a corkage charge equivalent to the difference between take-away and standard bar prices.
c) Special Licence
The sale of liquor is authorised for consumption on or at the Clubhouse for those attending a function for which a Special Licence has been obtained.
d) Limits of Licensed Premises
The Club's licensed premises are shown on the map displayed on the DSC notice board.
e) Refusal of Service
Any person, who is assessed or considered to be either intoxicated, and /or whose behaviour, conduct, manner, attitude or demeanour is either inappropriate or rude in the opinion of staff or management of the club shall be refused service.
2) Conduct on Licensed Premises
a) Members or their guests shall not bring liquor of any kind onto the licensed premises.
b) Club property shall not be removed from the licensed premises.
c) Glasses shall not be removed from the licensed premises. Glass is also not permitted in the boat parks, rotunda or children's playground area.
d) No person shall ride or park a motorcycle or bicycle in the vicinity of the bars or beer garden. Bicycles must be parked in the cycle racks, and motorcycles in the car park.
e) No scooters, skateboards, rollerblades or similar roller equipment is to be used in the club premises including licensed areas and boat parks
f) Pets shall not be brought onto the licensed premises at any time.
g) No unauthorised person is permitted entry to any area of the bar, office or coldroom facilities without the express permission of the Commodore, Rear Commodore House, General Manager or Bar Manager.
h) Any misconduct or breach of these rules may result in disciplinary action as determined by the Management Committee in accordance with the Darwin Sailing Club Constitution, clause 15.2
Random membership checks will be carried out.
3) Proof of Membership
To ensure compliance with Northern Territory legislation, members, when on the licensed premises, shall have in their possession their current membership card.
Membership cards shall be produced on request to Club employees or members of the Management or House Committees.
4) Temporary Membership
Temporary membership may be authorised by a Flag Officer or the General Manager, in accordance with The Darwin Sailing Club Constitution, clause 10, to a person who is;
a) A member of another sailing club and who is a visitor to Darwin: or
b) An owner, skipper or crewmen of a yacht visiting Darwin: or
c) A visitor to Darwin who resides at least 100 kilometres from the club: or
d) A member of the board of directors, managing committee or executive of a club or association involved in boating activities: or
e) Persons who have enrolled in approved courses to be held at the club.
A temporary member shall be entitled to membership of the Club for a period not exceeding one month in any one year and shall be liable to pay the membership fees prescribed from time to time. A temporary member shall not be entitled to sign-in guests to the Club premises and shall not be entitled to stand for membership of any committee of the Club, nominate persons to membership of the Club or any committee of the Club or vote at any meeting of members of the Club.
5) Members Guests
a) Persons other than financial, honorary, life or temporary members shall not visit the Club more than three times in any 12 month period.
b) Guests to the Club must be accompanied by a Member and shall provide the information necessary to enable the issue of an automated Guest sign in receipt.
c) A guest shall not remain on Club premises without the sponsoring member and shall vacate the premises with or prior to the sponsoring member's departure.
d) A member may sign in no more than six guests in any one day.
6) Dress Guide Lines
a) Except as may be determined by the House Committee for special events, appropriate smart casual attire must be worn by members and guests with the minimum dress to be:
- Shirt or tee/shirt with shorts, slacks or skirt or dress and footwear.
- Patrons wearing dirty or wet clothing or singlets bathing attire, or no footwear shall not be permitted to remain within the lounge area. Hats shall not be permitted in the lounge area.
b) Patrons remaining in the Sailors Bar area shall wear appropriate clothing covering the upper body together with at least, shorts or bathing attire. Hats shall not be permitted in the Sailors Bar.
c) The wearing of clothing bearing profane, suggestive or improper words or designs shall not be permitted on the licensed premises.
7) Enforcement of Dress Standards
Dress standards shall be enforced by Management and by members of the Management and House Committees.
8) Refusal of Service
Club employees shall refuse service to any person not complying with the dress standards promulgated in these House Rules.
9) Juveniles
a) Parents and guardians shall be responsible for the behaviour of children under their control while on Club premises, including the boat and car parks. Parents and guardians of children whose behaviour is deemed by a Flag Officer or the General Manager to be socially unacceptable shall be requested to remove them from the Club premises.
b) Persons under the age of 18 shall not be allowed to remain in the bar areas unless under the direct supervision of a person over the age of 18 years.
Persons under the age of 18 shall not be allowed in the areas designated for Gaming Machines.
c) Persons between the age of 14 years and 18 years may only use the pool table and equipment if accompanied and directly supervised by a person eighteen years or older. Persons under the age of 14 years may only use the pool table if accompanied and supervised directly by a parent or guardian.
d) Children using Club playground equipment shall at all times be under the direct supervision of their parent or guardian.
e) A person who has not attained the age of 18 years shall not purchase or consume liquor on the clubs premises unless:-
- The person is in the company of their parent, guardian or spouse who has attained the age of 18 years; and
- The person consumes the liquor in conjunction with or ancillary to a meal supplied on the clubs premises.
- The consumption of this liquor is consumed only at a table with the parent, guardian or spouse on the paved area directly in front of the bistro, which is the north western end of the Club between the fence and garden.
11) Exclusion from Premises
The management reserves the right to exclude from Club premises persons who do not comply with the House Rules.
10) Smoking
The following areas are designated as NO SMOKING AREAS:
a) The blue tiles around the bar or in the sailors bar;
b) The brown tiles in front of the administration area (including the area in front of the Ambon Board).
c) Any other areas as designated from time to time.
