The Darwin Sailing Club joins the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) to celebrate the 100th birthday of the ISAF. The ‘Sail the World’ weekend 1-2 September is set to be one of the highlights of ISAF Centenary celebrations and a perfect opportunity to promote sailing around the world. The aim is simple: get out on the water and get sailing!
To celebrate Sail the World weekend, the Darwin Sailing Club will take people sailing for FREE! Just turn up at 9.30am this Sunday at the Cullen Bay jetty, where the Mandorah Ferry leaves. Open to anyone above the age of 8. BYO hat, sunscreen, water and soft soled shoes. Local skippers will take people out on their 30 to 60 foot yachts.
Boats will return around 12 noon in time for the annual Darwin Sailing Club Sand Bar BBQ. This is a great way to celebrate Father’s Day. $25.00 for adults and $5.00 for kids, includes lunch and drinks.
Ross Chisholm, the Vice Commodore of the Darwin Sailing Club and an Internationally Qualified Race Official, said “This will be a major sporting event across the world. The Darwin Sailing Club is pleased to offer a taste of sailing to those who don’t usually get to enjoy this water sport or lifestyle. What better way to celebrate a sailing centenary, than being out on the water sailing?
